Silent Classics of Austrian Jewish Film

The Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies, together with the Austrian Embassy in Ottawa, will be hosting a two-day cinematic extravaganza on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27, when we will be showing two restored silent films from interwar Austria: "Moon of Israel [Die Sklavenkönigin]" and "The City without Jews [Die Stadt ohne Juden]." These films will be accompanied by live piano music composed for them by pianist/composer Gerhard Gruber.
Moon of Israel [Die Sklavenkönigin] (a retelling of the Exodus story) will be shown on May 26th at 2:00pm.
The City without Jews [Die Stadt ohne Juden] (an eerie prediction of what would soon happen in Europe) will be shown on May 27th at 7:00pm.
